Eunice traced the PARR family back to the beginning of the 18th century
in the Burnham area.
The reason we chose the Lord Nelson as venue is that her
3x great uncle & aunt,Thomas & Mary PARR (née CULLEY
were landlords at the pub from 1879-1896.
http://www.norfolkpubs.co.uk/norfolkb/burnhamthorpe/burnthln.htm
gives details of most of the landlords
The other link with Burnham Thorpe is through
the MASON family
(which married into the PARRs).
Some of the PARRs at the reunion were also linked to the MASON's.
William J MASON appears on the war memorial.
He was killed in the Dardanelles on 25 Feb 1915.
I'm sending you a group photo taken outside
the pub
also Peter & Mick PARR at the war memorial
(great nephews of William MASON)
Joyce, Ivan & Cyn PARR
and also Eunice with Sue at lunch inside the pub.
Eunice is the active researcher for the family, and would love to
hear
from anyone with any links to the PARR's.
She lives in Melbourne, Australia,
Her email address is:
ozypomeg@tpg.com.au
Her direct line in the Burnhams goes back to
John & Mary PARR
then William & Mary PARR (née WISSON)
then William Wisson & Ann PARR (née RAWSTON),
then William Mark & Mary PARR (née FOX)
then Robert & Sophia PARR (née FLORENCE)
then William Thomas & Alice PARR (née ALDRIDGE)
This was the branch that left Norfolk for the midlands in the early
1890s.
Most of the PARRs were involved in fishing/piloting
from Burnham Overy Staithe, although her greatt grandfather
William Thomas was a malster, and we think he worked at
the maltings at the Staithe which is now the Moorings Hotel.
If this has whetted your appetite then may
