Welcome to The Lord Nelson at Burnham Thorpe.  Our pub was built in 1637 as an Ale House in the beautiful Norfolk village of Burnham Thorpe.  The pub is located opposite the village cricket ground and bowling green.  Burnham Thorpe is famous as the birth place of Britain’s greatest naval hero – Admiral Lord Horatio Nelson, who, as the name of the pub suggests, frequented the Ale House.

Today you can soak up the atmosphere that has changed little over the past 370 years.  We don’t have a bar but serve our drinks from a tap room and have a range of real ales served straight from the cask.

We would also recommend you try our Nelson’s Blood or Lady Hamilton’s Nip a unique recipe of blended Rum and Mixed Spices.

Belgian chef and landlord Peter De Groeve comes from the home of Stella Artois where he started three successful restaurants and has trained many of the chef-proprietors now working in Leuven.  Peter says that ‘Good food is about dishes with balance between flavours so that you can taste the quality of the ingredients’.  Peter uses locally sourced produce on the menus including Sandringham Red Poll beef,  Brancaster mussels and Cromer crab in season.

We have a garden marquee for 100 people plus for weddings, birthday, anniversary celebrations, and hen and stag parties.  We would be happy to discuss your individual requirements. Please contact us for more information.

We look forward to welcoming you to The Lord Nelson very soon.
